Homeowners in Suffolk looking to build a new property or improve an existing one can access a range of local grants and support schemes to help with expenses.

Warm Homes: Local Grant

  • Low carbon heating: up to £15,000 for air or ground source heat pumps, particularly for off grid homes using oil or coal.

Renovation Grants for Owner-Occupiers

  • Grants between £1,000 and £15,000 for essential repairs and safety improvements.
  • You’ll need to agree to live in and own the home for the next 20 years — if you do, you won’t have to pay anything back.

Retrofit Assessment Voucher Scheme

Suffolk Loft Insulation Offer

  • The Suffolk Loft Insulation Offer enables homeowners in Suffolk to receive a 50 per cent % discount (up to £200) on itch-free thermal insulation rolls from High Loft, the UK’s leading eco loft insulation brand.
  • All residents in Suffolk are eligible for this grant.
  • The offer is available until allocated funding is spent.
  • Ideal for topping up existing insulation or insulating from scratch.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

  • Encourages property owners in England and Wales to replace fossil fuel heating systems with low-carbon alternatives.
  • Grant amounts can differ depending on the different heat source installed.
  • To be eligible for the grant you must own the property (includes homeowners & self-builders)
  • The property must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) issued within the last 10 years.
  • Grants are not available for hybrid systems or replacements of existing low-carbon heating systems.
  • The scheme operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is open until 31 December 2027.
